The Truewalker Family | Life’s a Garden, Dig It | Standford, KY

I first met Courtney in - I think it was 2019 (correct me if I’m wrong Court.) when she wanted a sweet session with her (now) oldest son Novah She made my dreams come true with an intimate motherhood session which is where we focus on connection, skin to skin, & the rawness of motherhood. It meant the world to me that she felt comfortable with me to capture such precious moments & I looked up to her ways of mothering. She is incredible you guys!

Kentucky Family Photographer | Nancy, KY | Family Session with Samantha Meadows

5. You were a single mother for a while, do you have any tips you would like to give to other single mom's out there?

Don’t give up hope. Times get hard sometimes and you may feel like you’re drowning. Finding a support system (whether that be your family or friends) can help tremendously. With my tribe there is nothing Me and Ella couldn’t accomplish.

How to Choose Outfits for Group Photos | Central Kentucky Photographer

Listen – We’re not just “taking photos”, look at it as we are building a time capsule. We’re immortalizing a moment in time that you can revisit again and again for the rest of your life and your children’s lives, and your grandchildren’s lives (and so on and so on). The people you are today – the opinions you hold, the music you listen to, your weird eating habits – get lightly salted and spritzed with lemon (for freshness), packaged up, vacuum-sealed, and free-thrown into the capsule for your future selves to look back on and remember.

The Bell Family | Kentucky Family Photographer | Millsprings, KY

I am so excited to share this gallery with all of you. As soon as the Bell Family stepped out of their vehicle I was impressed with their color scheme and outfits. The tones were absolutely perfect and not to mention just how cute this little family is together. I feel unbelievably blessed to have met them and was chosen to capture their newest family photos.

Behind the Scenes: A Photographer’s Turnaround Time | Kentucky Photographer

Let’s take a peek behind the scenes and dive into what goes into a photographer’s turnaround time. Full disclosure: this applies only to me and my business, but I do tie in the practices of others to give you a sense of why everyone has different turnaround times. You will find that just like any business, all photographers choose to run their businesses differently.

Tipful Tuesday | Dads, You can trust me. | Kentucky Family Photographer

When I tell people that I am a family photographer, many people often comment that it must be so hard to photograph unwilling 2 years olds. While 2 year olds often have their own idea about how the session should go, I love their energy and am always happy to let them take the lead and follow along in a playful way.

You know which member of the family is the often the hardest? Dads.

Kentucky Photographer | Beulah Blooms At Richardson Farms | Monticello, KY |Sunflower Minis

Taylor Reynolds of TayReynold’s Photography contacted me about a beautiful field of sunflowers located on Richardson’s Farms in Monticello, KY. This is the place where we had our very first wedding together and it will always hold a special place in our hearts. Not to mention how absolutely gorgeous the venue is and how kind the owners are. I had no idea that they had their own garden where they sell fresh flowers so I knew we had to jump on the opportunity of photographing in the sunflower fields.

Springfield, Kentucky | Lifestyle Newborn Session | The Leechmans

The galleries I send tend to be a mix of photos of your child’s favorite toys, close-ups of nose scrunches, tender moments between siblings, silly faces, so many hugs and kisses, and a liquid that will inevitably spill…. pun intended. Of course I try to throw in a few standard smiling photos for Grandma, but I see photographs as a record, and more importantly, a story that deepens your own understanding of yourself and the legacy you are leaving with your children and grandchildren.

Kentucky Family Photographer | Mill Springs, Kentucky | The Mosley Family

These moments are real. Nothing staged or overly posed. I was an observer. An admirer.

I use to carry this weight of responsibility. But as I’ve grown as an artist, the more I let that responsibility go.  I’m inspired by the natural rhythm of your family. I may tell you where to stand and tweak a few minor things but the rest is up to you.  I really like to let your kids guide us and your relationship unfold. That’s when the true magic happens.

Imagine this: It’s 30 years into the future and you’re looking at the most precious pictures you have ever seen. In fact, you have seen them before—many times. And every single time you do, their raw loveliness makes you stop, breathe a little deeper, and focus a little more closely. Most of the time, what strikes you as particularly beautiful has a hint of the exotic, the faraway, the extraordinary. But that’s not the case with these pictures. The beauty of these pictures is directly proportional to how much familiarity they contain.

Their beauty is in the familiarity of details. The way your baby used to smile when your husband sang to him. The way your son’s feet couldn’t touch the floor when he sat in his favorite chair. The way your husband looked at you as you were holding your child close. Their beauty comes from the truths they tell. How life was sometimes harder than you could have ever imagined. How authentic happiness took you by surprise. How much you all loved each other then—and how much you always will.

I want to give you this experience of familiar and truthful beauty. It’s an experience you can access every time you see the pictures I took when you and your loved ones were being your unguarded selves. When you trust that your photographer has an eye for what’s truly beautiful, you can let go and just live in front of the camera. That’s when the most enchanting stories play out. That’s when what you really want to remember can be captured.

Lifestyle Kentucky Photographer | At home session with The VanHook’s

Honestly, They make it easy. My kids are best friends and they are good boys. We have a routine, they have chores and responsibilities, and kindness is key in our house. You treat others as you want to be treated. They know to use their manners, follow the rules, and always be respectful. Now let’s be honest, it’s not rainbows and butterflies 24/7. Come on, I live in a house full of rambunctious boys and their dad is like another kid when they all get fired up but our house is overflowing with fun and love. We are raising little gentleman and they make this mommas job so easy and I’m very proud.

Kentucky Family Photographer | The Davis Family Story

We first scheduled Ariana’s senior photos but turned it into a super fun couple’s session which we all still love to reflect back upon. Remembering the way these two love birds looked at one another back then and seeing them now, as a happily married couple with a one year old daughter, my heart melts. This little family has trusted me time and time again with helping them document such special moment’s in their journey together and THIS people, is why I love what I do!
