Hi, I’m India Tungate.

I’M HERE FOR THE SENTIMENTAL HEARTS, JUST LIKE MINE.

I’m a heart-fuelled, connection-seeking photographer based in Somerset, Kentucky shooting across Kentucky. I’ve been capturing people’s stories for ten years and have made so many friends along the way. I take pride in making the time to get to know you and your special people, so that our time together feels like a big, warm hug. Because I LOVE the real and honest stuff.

A little bit about me:

I am a follower of Jesus. He truly guides me in all that I do. Being a Christian is a huge part of who I am as a mother, as a wife, and as a photographer. I’m blessed with being a creative for the creator and I pray that this business can be my ministry too.

I wear a lot of hats these days, my most important ones of course being a wife and a mother to my two children. My husband, Wes, and I have been together for 14 years, married since 2012. We have had this awesome opportunity to watch each other grow up during our 20’s and I’m so thankful for that. He’s my biggest cheerleader & supporter, often helping me behind the scenes with this business.

We have a son, Kambryn, who will be 9 in September and a daughter, Madylin, who will be 7 in November. Being their Mom is everything to me. This business allows me to be at home with them more through out the day and blesses me with the opportunity to homeschool them. Homeschooling our children is a dream of ours as a family and I’m so thankful to have this as an option for us. A big thank you is owed to my clients, who help support this business, which in return impacts more people than you could know. Thank you all.

I am a proud Kentuckian who loves to capture the raw moments, golden light, and adventurous love within couples and families. My work is tailored to each unique story of every client. You’re not only getting just a photographer, but a friend who adores human interaction and the true honest emotion with every laugh, hug, tear shed, or stroke of touch. I crave to draw out that emotion artistically into each session and I thrive on the soulful moments of life that we are able to soak in.

 Fun Facts:

  • I am an Author! I write sweet and cozy christian contemporary romance novels. I published my very first book, Raine, Raine, Run Away, on July 22nd 2024. My biggest writing inspiration is my Nana, Betty Peterson. She was an author and play-write herself and was an English Professor at our local college here in Somerset. She was always supportive and encouraging. I miss her so much and my life hasn’t been the same since I had to say goodbye to her in 2020.

  • In 2021 my husband and I was able to move onto our property. God left his fingerprint in every detail that lead up to the moment and he continues to move in inspiring ways. My dream is to serve God on our land somehow by bringing people together. I would love a gathering place as well as a photography studio on our property one day. I see big things happening - on his timing of course. I am learning to be patient. I love being able to have clients over and using our woods, fields, & creek front for photo sessions.

  • I’m turning into a Homesteader. I say turning because I was once a “City Girl”, well as city as you can get in Somerset, KY. I’ve found my heart in the simple living lifestyle as well as a slight obsession with chickens. I love all things farm life. Sometimes I like to gift my clients with a dozen of our colorful eggs when we have extra.

  • I am a coffee lover, especially when it’s extra creamy with a little sweetness.

  • I love music! 9 times out of 10 I’ll probably be rolling up to a session with my either some christian music or my 90’s & early 2000’s mix blasting. But I enjoy just about any type of music there is.

  • I have been known to laugh until I cry and snort. Things will get real and I’ll probably ask you deep questions —- you know, like which Office character you feel most connected to. Serious stuff like that.

  • I am a sucker for romance and I think that is why I absolutely love helping people capture and tell their love stories through photography. Give me all the clean romance books, shows, movies, songs, ect.

Where did my passion for photography come from?

For as long as I can remember I’ve felt a deep yearning to be able to press pause on the moments that matter – big moments, little moments and all the in-between moments. As a kid I would carry around a disposable film camera wherever I went not wanting to forget our family adventures, in my late teens and early twenties I was the girl with a point and shoot camera at every gathering capturing stories of fun and friendship for us all to relive in the days that followed.

Fast forward to the moment I became a mother and documenting my children and our life as a family was the only way I knew how to calm my beating heart when my mind wandered to thoughts of how quickly these golden years pass us by. I don’t want to miss a moment or ever forget how it feels to be the centre of their world.

I went to college thinking the medical field was where I belonged but after all of the (literal) blood, sweat, and tears I put into college and jobs that were just not meant for me, I quickly changed my path in life. I tried nursing, CNA work, physical therapy, psychology; I simply just wanted to help others. No matter what it was that I chose to do with my life, giving back to others is exactly what I wanted to do. Photography allows me to do just that. Especially with my Nonprofit, Reflections of Hope. & whenever God prompts me to help & serve others.

Photography came to me at a time when I needed it the most — It was like walking right into what I was created to do. It just fit me, my personality, and my strengths. It has me constantly thinking, changing, growing, and it makes me feel alive to know that tomorrow will never be the same day as today. I firmly believe that God created us to use our specific abilities and passions to bless others, no matter the industry, and I am certain this is mine. I went after it full stream in 2017, no questions asked, not a shred of doubt. I want to help you capture this season of your life for you to have and to hold forever too – your love story, your journey into motherhood, the arrival of your sweet baby, your family just as you are right now.

A little bit about my style

I have found that finding your photography style is like finding the perfect pair of jeans. You try on so many pairs and eventually you try on that perfect pair and you’re suddenly like, “Ahhhhhh that’s perfect!”. I found myself trying so many styles of photography in the start of my journey. Some of them just didn’t fit; I needed to find the style that fit me the most — and I finally have. I strive on connections. Whether is it a newly engaged couple, a Bride and Groom on their wedding day, the fresh moments of familihood, the love between a mother and child; anything that provides emotiveness is what I love to capture for my clients.

I am in a good spot, like when you get to that secure spot in a relationship. I know what I am really good at, I am confident in what I bring and the contribution I bring to your day and session. Many people don’t realize the impact the photographer has on how you feel, the energy present while you shoot, and the confidence you feel in yourself. Do they make pretty pictures, sure? But how do they make you feel? Do they give you an experience and make you feel special or comfortable? This is what my business is all about. Not just photographs but a fun and relaxing experience. You may not even realize it’s what you deserve with a photographer, but trust me —- you do! I want my clients to realize there is more that goes into you loving your photos and more than just hiring a photographer that takes good photos.

So what will the photos be like if you choose me as your photographer?

Your photos will be soulful, joyful, authentic, and candid. They will be filled with light, love and happiness. & They will help to capture your story.
