I first met Courtney in - I think it was 2019 (correct me if I’m wrong Court.) when she wanted a sweet session with her (now) oldest son Novah She made my dreams come true with an intimate motherhood session which is where we focus on connection, skin to skin, & the rawness of motherhood. It meant the world to me that she felt comfortable with me to capture such precious moments & I looked up to her ways of mothering. She is incredible you guys!
I wanted to talk a little bit about the term "Lifestyle" since it is one that is quite often thrown around in our industry and it is what people of use to describe my work.
The words we use to describe our work matter very little in my mind. What matters is how I work makes those who view it feel.
NEWBORN PHOTOGRAPHY IS NOT ALL ABOUT POSING
Within the last two years I went through a big identity shift for my newborn work. I still photographed a few sessions in a more classic, posed manner, but at the same time I realized that more than perfect curly pose I preferred to capture the moments which tell the story. The story of joy, intimacy, and unconditional love.
2. When did you find out that he was the one for you? When was it for him?
I knew he was the one for me when I realized that we’d spent every single day together since our first date. It was a couple weeks since our first date (which was a Starbucks date lol) and it just hit me that we’d not spent a single day without seeing one another. I just realized then that he was my absolute best friend and that I wanted to spend all my time with him. We just got along so well and he just made life so much more fun and exciting.
There is just something so special about having your photo session in the comfort of your home. But like most people (including myself), you might not feel comfortable with having your home photographed or might not have the right lighting in your homes. That is where these mini sessions come in. Taylor Reynold’s of TayReynolds Photography and I have came together to offer you guys some Lifestyle Mini Sessions located in the cutest farmhouse right off of highway 80 in Nancy, KY.
I’m sure you have saw my advisement for these sessions already but let me take this opportunity to explain to you how this will work and reasons why these will be the perfect session for you.
The galleries I send tend to be a mix of photos of your child’s favorite toys, close-ups of nose scrunches, tender moments between siblings, silly faces, so many hugs and kisses, and a liquid that will inevitably spill…. pun intended. Of course I try to throw in a few standard smiling photos for Grandma, but I see photographs as a record, and more importantly, a story that deepens your own understanding of yourself and the legacy you are leaving with your children and grandchildren.
Honestly, They make it easy. My kids are best friends and they are good boys. We have a routine, they have chores and responsibilities, and kindness is key in our house. You treat others as you want to be treated. They know to use their manners, follow the rules, and always be respectful. Now let’s be honest, it’s not rainbows and butterflies 24/7. Come on, I live in a house full of rambunctious boys and their dad is like another kid when they all get fired up but our house is overflowing with fun and love. We are raising little gentleman and they make this mommas job so easy and I’m very proud.
Anencephaly is rare but it also is not, if that makes sense. It’s rare in the fact that no one talks about it. Doctors don’t even know exactly how to treat or help prepare a mother for it. It’s linked to lack of folic acid. To help the prevention of anencephaly, it is recommend before even trying to become pregnant to take folic acid.
This sweet family welcomed me into their home & allowed me to capture such precious memories for them. How sweet is this baby girl & her loving brother together 🥺 Mom & Dad were absolutely smitten. They're Pup, who was protective and kept a close eye on me, loves his kiddos too. It was such a precious sight to see and I loved working on these images. Thank you Whitney & Wes for trusting me with your moments. I truly appreciate you all. Here are some of my favorites!
