Why Do Photos Matter? | Central Kentucky Photographer

Why do photos matter?

Have you ever asked yourself why you take a photo? Was it an impulse or a pre-conceived idea? Have you felt excited or forced to be a part of the picture? Were you behind or in front of the camera?

What do you feel when you look at the photos?

NOSTALGIA. JOY. SURPRISE. EXCITMENT.

TIME IS CHANGING EVERYTHING

There is an interesting mind shift happening. We’re getting older and we almost instantly change our perception. We look at our photographs and we either laugh seeing our younger selves or we feel warmth and tenderness for the person who’s on the photographs or just both. You’ll never regret pictures of your kids and they never regret the pictures where you’re in the frame with them. There is a story behind every picture, I would even risk saying the messier the picture the better the story is.

the BOTTOM LINE IS SIMPLE

Put all your doubts aside! Photography is one of the very few things that can take us back in time (The other one I know for sure is the smell – but that’s a subject for another post) Posed or unposed, spontaneous or planned, taken by a pro or just with the phone camera, there is time and place for all of them. So mix and match, do a lot of pictures yourself and trust a pro from time to time – this combination can’t go wrong.

And my advice – don’t think about how you might look like in a moment, just feel, be in the moment!

Feeling and energy are the things that perspire through every image.

PHOTOGRAPHS ARE OUR LEGACY

They help us to become a part of a story that will outlive us, but for as long as we live we can create this story and relive it every time we look at the photographs of us and our families.

Below is a session that I had in January that I absolutely LOVED! But what made this session even more special is that they were preparing for the adoption of a baby girl! Oh how wonderful it must be to have these moments to reflect on and feel those feeling all over again. It was an honor to work with this family.
