Kentucky Elopement | Wedding Photographer | Tiffany + Josh’s Love Story

Where do I even begin with this amazing adventure of Tiffany and Josh’s wedding day. The most Epic tales are the ones that have some bumps along the road but end up at the happy ending. This is for sure, one of those epic tales. So originally Tiffany and Josh wanted to have a small country wedding at Tiffany’s Mother’s Farm house. This was set to take place in July. But as many brides know, the wedding planning process can be a bit stressful. If I could go back in time, I would totally just elope to some tropical place.

Spur of the moment plans were changed and Tiffany and Josh decides to be adventurous and elope. Which fits them perfectly! We had planned a fun day of hiking, saying vows, committing to “I do”, and taking photos by a waterfall!!!! However, Kentucky had a different plan for us that day and brought us a huge rainstorm that lasted all day long.

There was no way hiking was going to happen that day but Tiffany and Josh were determined to get married. They were so ready for this next chapter of their life together and it is something I admire deeply. Plans changed back to having a small get together of a few family members and close friends at The Farm. Which turned out to be one of the most sweetest and beautiful weddings.

As soon as I arrived to the scene, it was show time. I grabbed my camera, took a few deep breaths of the rain-filled air, and already began to tear up at the sight of Tiffany and Josh. The love between the two of them radiated all around us that day. The passion they shared for one another burned into their eyes and it felt like a dream to be able to capture a couple so in love as these two are.

Plans might not had worked the way they had originally planned but that is the thing with life, it never goes as planned no matter how much you try to control the situation. If you have a faithful and loving partner to fight along side you through life’s up’s and down’s, that is best part of life. These two love birds have that spark between them and I just know they are truly soul mates.

Tiffany was brave enough to share a piece of Josh and her’s love story. The thing I love the most about their story is how raw it is. Tiffany lays out the truth, both ugly and beautiful. And how Josh swept her off of her feet and gave her exactly what she was needing. As I am sure she did the very same for him. Isn’t it crazy how God works sometimes? It always seems like our soulmates show up in our lives just when we least expect it and right when we need them the most. That’s how it was for me. That’s how it seemed to be for The Dicks.

So to go along with the images of their Kentucky Elopement Wedding, here is Tiffany’s shared story. <3

We found out, in piecing together our histories, there were a dozen or so places where we should have met already. We attended the same high school. I was a freshman. He was a senior. We lived 5 minutes apart. We were in the same places at the same time. We knew the same people. His sister has been my best friend for years. He was always just a story to me. Someone I heard about but never knew. The older brother who was never around when I was.

But that is how life works sometimes. We were both becoming different people. God shaping us, working on our hearts and preparing us for this season together. We both have been through Big trials, as if God knew our hearts needed to be made healthy. And here we are today, inside our story.

His sister will deny it, but I believe she played matchmaker with us, intentionally drawing us closer together.

Josh's sister, Amber, fed me story after story about the wildlife refuge her older brother worked at - wanting us both to get involved in it. Of course I said yes! Why not? Rescuing animals sounds like a career I can get down with. I expected to fall in love with animals, but I never expected to fall in love with a man there.

Working with Josh was fun, but it was when we started a conversation outside work that I got hooked. The way he puts it is, we started a conversation and it has never ended. We have been together ever since.

Adventure is our love language. A few months after dating we moved into a off-grid cabin in the woods together and really started our life together. It fueled our passion for homesteading. We spent our days rescuing and training owls, hawks and eagles - and then would travel home to run our homestead.

Before getting married, we talked heavily about the vision we both share for our life together. What kind of lifestyle do we want to cultivate together as husband and wife?

We both agreed on the type of lifestyle we would cultivate together.

Imagine a tiny cabin in the woods. A home overflowing with plants. Where we dry our laundry on the clothes line out back. We wake before the sun, stay up late reading, nap during the late afternoon in a hammock. We have a garden full of flowers, herbs, vegetables and berries. We go on picnics regularly by a nearby river. We have little reason to ever leave our home tucked deep inside the forest. A place where both animals and children roam wildly.

I think for us, getting married in the woods was a must, just felt right and apart of our love story.

We had an entire wedding planned but we couldn't help ourselves. Choosing to elope was a simple choice fueled by passion. We were ready. So we did. And its the best decision I've ever made.

Josh is effortlessly good. Contagiously alive. Bold in faith. Humble in everything. Gracious and kind and simple. He is the person that makes everyone feel like themselves, like they can set their pretend down, be who they really are, and still be seen for it, loved for it. He looks at people and makes them better. He is my own personal comedian and the best place I've ever called home.

I'm so thankful that I started a conversation with this man.
