Kentucky Engagement Photograher | James E. Pepper Distillery | Lexington, KY | Allison + Ben

You guys!!!!!!!!!

I have been waiting for this engagement session to happen for months and here it finally is, completed and ready to be shared. Ben used to work at the James. E. Pepper Distillery located in Lexington, KY before he went back to teaching Art. I mean, how much cooler can this guy get. Believe me, he gets even cooler. Especially since he chose one of the coolest girls I have ever met to be his Bride.

Ben + Allison’s love is pure and beautiful. It was literally like hanging out with two best friends who just so happen to be madly in love with one another. You can not get much better than that, am I right? Since Ben used to work at the Distillery, we got a super awesome private tour of the place. I have never been to a Distillery before so I felt super cool to be able to get this awesome tour AND snap some photos in the location. This was so much fun and was the perfect unique location for these two.

I loved the huge windows that allowed for some beautiful natural light to flow into the room. The warmth of the barrels and brick wall casted such a beautiful hue around them and I felt inspired by the warm & creamy tones whiskey gives off, when editing this session. I dig it! We also got to go onto the roof top and in the midst of things, a burst of wind flew by us and shut the door leading back into the building. So, we got stuck on the rooftop for a few minutes.

A huge shout out to their friend Marjorie, who was a huge help during the session with fixing Allison’s hair and helping her up on the beams but she also provided some help with getting off that roof top. She was a hoot and I wish she could tag along with me during every shoot.

We ended our session at the Distillery by snuggling at the bar top and taking shots (them, not me, not going to lie but I am not a whiskey girl lol). We then went across the street to an awesome bar/arcade called burl arcade and played some games. I mean….. this would be the perfect spot for a date night. I would love to have a few drinks and beat my husband at some games because…. lets be honest here (Wes, if your reading this), i’m pretty awesome at video games. Or at least I was before becoming a mom.

I have really been into 80’s music and 80’s movies here lately and this arcade brought me back in time. I especially loved the fun wall of old TV’s. It was pretty epic and the perfect ending to such an amazing night with these two. I first met Allison at a wedding my husband and I shot back in July of last year. It was one of the best weddings we have ever had the pleasure of working and being a part of. I mean, it was amazing. Allison was a bridesmaid and Ben was later discovered as “The cool shirt guy who dances good”. I have the perfect photo of these two from the wedding and yes, I will share it with you all below! EPIC!

Needless to say, my creative soul needed this fun session in my life and this newly found friendship that I can’t wait to continue to grow. Their wedding isn’t until September of next year and as bad as I hate to wish time away, I can not wait to capture their big day. As always, here is a little bit of their love story below to go along with their images. Thank you to Ben + Allison for a wonderful evening and for being so awesome. I love you two.

1. How did Ben and you first meet?

We went to high school together but never talked until after college. We eventually met through mutual friends and just kept hanging out!

2. What was your first impression about Ben? What was his?
Allison:At first I didn't really see him as more than a friend. But I guess he grew on me.

Ben: I thought she was cool and liked that she was into the same nerdy stuff I was. She also taught me how to get double ships on galaga, and then I just knew.

When we realized we couldn't spend more than a day apart. And that we could be ourselves 100% around each other without any judgement.
